LINK UP

When you hear “link up” by Anderson Paak and Knxwledge one can’t help but think of this R&B jam as a funky version of elevator music. “Link up” takes the funk template pioneered by musical genius groups like Parliament, Funkadelic, The Ohio Players and the Gap Band and creates their own sound. Anderson Paak’s scratchy, mannered soul vocals is showcased effectively throughout the song and Knxwledge’s production connects a sequence of choral backing with heavy-foot, drum-bass thump to form an adhesive backdrop for Paak’s  antics.
