Sango

Oshun has been soaring into the stratosphere with their recent array of music, visuals and fashion creating art with a message, embedding culture and invoking thought into their listeners touching on modern day topics while connecting them to  divine/ancient law. The title of their latest single is called “Sango” (God of Thunder) which is the equal and opposite to Oshun, a masculine energy for balancing the female energy “Oshun”. This all may seem a bit mythological but Oshun connects this african myth/folktale into modern day relationships we face today. Confirming that nothing is new under the sun and how we are all one whether we realized it or not.  As always they depict beautiful cultured art pushing the envelop with visuals and fashion summoning vibes from the ancestors. From Germany with Love.

With bringing in the New Year of 2017, Da Bassment Blog is spotlighting Germany’s very own, Ace Tee. Ace Tee brings us back into the 1990’s urban swag with inspiration from the hit girl groups, TLC and XSCAPE. “Bist tu Down” translated into English is “Are You Down?” . Of course you will be after embracing the art. For the video is spoken in the Germanic language. Visually you can see the heart of New York through graffiti work. Wearing the aesthic urban clothing of the 90’s era, Ace Tee and those she connects with, can all unargumentally be seen dancing and invoking the times that we have already left behind, but still are continually inspired by. It is an impeccable example of music bridging the gap between seas, time, and language barriers.
No doubt that Hip-Hop has changed our world. Leaving behind the negated world of Censorship Hip hop has been an outlet for those otherwise not able to express the visions, issues, and continuing changes of the world. From the early 1970’s into contemporary times you can see the formulation of a new wave for artist in the African American community to unleash changes in the culture of America as well as Globally. From music, clothing, visual mediums, and language, early hip hop birthed the way for African Americans to be front and center stage in impacting not only those in America but the others around the World. Give Ace Tee a listening ear….

Prblms

Today’s post comes from the enigma known as 6black as he releases his new single “problems”. This song speaks on the many levels of relationships with back and forth arguments between him and his lady. Explaining how she wants him for all the wrong reasons, following the fame and glo instead of love. The ascetic is contagious as 6lack captures a druggy wavy feel while accenting the beat perfectly with his raspy vibrato. The video is very eerie but it fits the song well. With cuffing season right around the corner “problems” serves as the perfect transition song for all the drug-love-birds. Peep the vibrations below and as always…

Bare Soul Yoga

Yoga represents many things to many people but for me yoga means a connection between the mind and body, yoga represents peace, tranquility and concentration. It is a gateway exercise to release stress and stay grounded to the universe and yourself. With the recent health renaissance taking place we are seeing people take responsibility for their own health and using organic and ancient practices opposed to trusting the doctors and hospitals whole-heartedly. With this increase in healthy living we are still only seeing a small percentage of black woman participating in yoga, whether they feel out of place or intimidated by a different body structure its plain to see that more black yogi teachers are needed. With only two percent of Black women in the United States practicing yoga out of the 16 million women in the United States, only 30 thousand black women do yoga. Which is why we are here to break the mold with ‘Aziza Love’ a talented yoga instructor in training aiming to put some color in the yoga world. Aziza uses yoga to promote physical as well as mental wellness, understanding the many chronic diseases that plague the black community which can be reversed with daily yoga routines. Brining peace and serenity to a community that suffering from anxiety and confusion. Creating the platform for folks of color with different shape bodies to be included and not fell intimidated. Black women are not the face of yoga but that doesn’t mean that they are not meant for it. Inclusion is necessary, we all need to feel welcomed and supported and at Bare Soul Yoga you can do just that, a place to heighten the mind and body.
