Preacher’s $on

YGTUT is a rap artist hailing from Chattanooga, TN.  His mixtape Preacher’s $on is one any rap fanatic should willfully lend an ear to.  The content of his music can be described as the intersection of the streets and the pulpit.  Not to be meant that he preaches at the listener but more so just him being a preacher’s son he obviously has religious influence in his music, but that is only one aspect of it.  Although his father is a preacher, he still finds himself in situations that are street influenced.  YGTUT finds a way to give the listener a good balance of the two very different worlds.  On his record Hangin’ he says, “Niggas act like because yo pop a preacher, they supposed to hold you up to this certain standard, like you perfect.  Fuck nah!  But if you don’t know anything else, know that I’m about prosperity.  A person can come from a dark situation and turn into light.  Let’s get rich, invest money into our black communities.”  So although his music has a street influence there is also influence stemming from a forward thinking and hopeful outlook for not only his future but black people as a whole.  One can even find inspiration while listening to the mixtape.  On “Highs & Lows” he says:  “Get you some ambitions, keep on sitting like a lazy hoe, wishing on them visions, when the fuck is you gone chase em though?”  Overall the project is solid and touches on a broad yet overlapping range of topics.  The content isn’t the only thing that is noteworthy, the production is flawless from beginning to end.  There are mixtapes that have a solid 4 or 5 tracks and the rest are throw away tracks but this mixtape is one where you won’t skip a single track from beginning to end. Check out this young King speak the gospel over his church inspired productions below and as always
